In April 2004 construction began on Biblioteca Pública El Páramo, which would be conveniently located adjacent to the day care center and around the corner from the public school.
Children anxiously await the grand opening of Biblioteca Pública El Páramo and dream of the books they’ll enjoy.
In anticipation of their new library, children learned traditional songs, dances and storytelling, which they proudly performed at the grand opening festivities. In this photo, children are dancing to joropo, the indigenous music of Venezuela’s llanos, or plains. The library is a cornerstone for building a stronger community and helps preserve local customs and culture
November 16, 2004 Grand Opening of Biblioteca Pública El Páramo
Children's and adults' fiction & non-fiction, encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases and reference books for health, agriculture and careers are available at the library. When purchasing books, the Library Coordinator confers with El Páramo's teachers and parents to determine educational and community needs.
Library first opened with 160 new books – now has over 1300!
Library volunteer Reinaldo Gamas instructs young library patrons how to use the two public-access computers that are available at Biblioteca Pública El Páramo.
2 free public-access computers are also available.
